16 weeks!!!

Last Friday I was 16 weeks pregnant! Here's my weekly update! I'm so excited because this week we finally ordered the furniture.

How I'm feeling:
I feel like this week was a big turning point. I finally started feeling better and I've been using my anti-nausea medicine less frequently! PTL (praise the Lord!)!!! I still haven't felt the baby move yet, so hopefully that happens soon!

About the baby:
The baby is the size of a turnip (I don't eat turnips so I have a hard time imagining this one!) and going through a major growth spurt right around now!

Doctor Appointments:
We had an appointment last week and I gained ONE POUND! I were so excited because I had been losing weight the entire first trimester! I'm sure that will change soon! Haha!

Food:
Current favorite foods: I'm really into rice, frozen yogurt and grapes
Current food aversions: avocados and eggs have made me want to gag since about week 5. I honestly don't know if I'll ever eat an egg after this pregnancy.

My body:
Still bloated (flabby) but I think I can tell the roll of flab is starting to form into more of a "bump".

The nursery:
We have lots of paint swatches on the wall but no decisions have been made. Gender neutral is harder than I thought it would be!

Baby gear:
Here's the furniture we ordered. It's almost all on backorder until March but that's okay given the state of emergency that is currently the nursery!

Happy Monday!!

Lately

So here are a few things that have been going on lately...

Our nursery currently looks like a paint store threw up on it. We can't decide on a nice gender neutral color to paint on the walls. Right now we're thinking a dark ocean-y (I made that word up) blue that we can use later with a soft ballerina pink or with a lime green depending on the gender since we're not finding out ahead of time. I think maybe we'll figure out a nice color about the time he/she goes off to college.. Ha!

I'm supposed to be sleeping mostly on my left side but my body didn't get the memo because I wake up a million times in the middle of the night on my stomach or on my back. I decided to get one of those snoogle-snuggle-woogle-whatever-they're-called pillows made specifically for pregnant women. And I HATE it!! However, I keep finding Boomer stretched out beside it so all is was not lost!! ;-)

I also had to show you my most favorite sonogram picture Joe caught a couple weeks ago. I've had one sonogram since then but we haven't gotten quite as cute of a picture as this one. I pretend he/she is showing off by wiggling his/her toes every time I look at it! :)

Happy Thursday!!!

Updated Skin Care Routine

I thought I would do a post on my current skin care routine because I have found some new things I liked lately!

I'm unfortunately NOT one of those lucky girls who has glowing skin while she's pregnant (or any time for that matter)! My sister has always had perfect skin and all she does is "splash water on her face" in the mornings! Some girls get all the luck! Ha!

I used to be a big fan of Proactiv but I kind of got away from using it because I thought it was drying my skin out, and I have dry skin to begin with! But I started using JUST the cleanser again lately and now I'm remembering why I liked it so much! It really controls the blemishes!

I alternate the Proactiv cleanser with MAC Cleansing Oil. I know, it seems odd to clean your face with oil but I read that the only way to really clean your face was with oils that break down the old makeup/junk on your face. And honestly, it's the most gentle cleanser I've found that leaves my skin fresh.

I also have a new LOVE that I keep in the shower and use 2-3 times per week - It's called Clean and Clear In Shower Facial. I am obsessed with it! It's about the consistency of peanut butter and you spread it all over your face in the hot shower and let it sit for a few minutes and then scrub it in and rinse. My skin is SO smooth after using it and those annoying pores on my nose are smaller!

My new favorite moisturizer is the Olay Total Effects. I tried a similar Olay moisturizer with self tanner in it and I didn't like it as well. But this moisturizer is great in my book!!

When my face is really dry, before bed I will put the Olay Total Effects all over my face and then lock it in with Un-Petroleum Jelly, which is like an organic form of the regular Vaseline. It doesn't cause breakouts like you might think! (Even Marilyn Monroe and old movie stars used Vaseline back in the day to make their skin dewy!!) When I wake up it has all absorbed into my skin and it's nice and supple!

Now if I could tackle cellulite and stretch marks! Ha!

I'd love to hear about any products you've been using on your face that you've been loving!!!

Happy Wednesday, y'all!! :)

I'm Back! And 14 Weeks!

I've been on a little blogging hiatus (the three of you who read might have noticed! Ha!) because I decided around Christmas that I wanted to spend a few weeks away from the computer as much as possible. I don't know about you, but I can sit down at the computer and lose hours without even blinking an eye!

Last Friday I was 14 weeks pregnant! We have started working on the nursery so I want to do a separate post on that this week, but here is my regular update:

How I'm feeling:
I still have all-day-sickness (except a few good days here and there) but I've also started to get headaches. I think it's dehydration so I've been really trying to bump up the water intake. I HATE water and before being pregnant I hardly ever drank the stuff (I know, I know). I told Joe if water tasted like Diet Coke I'd have no problem! Ha!

About the baby:
The baby is the size of a large orange! Joe lets me come in for an ultrasound about once a week and we usually see him/her kicking around and sucking on his/her thumb. (I sucked my thumb until the 4th grade so I'm a little nervous about that habit!)

Doctor Appointments:
Our next appointment is next Monday for 16 weeks.

Food:
Current favorite foods: I still like salad and potatoes. I had a cheetos moment last week (I know, took extra vitamins that day! gross!)  Current food aversions: avocados and eggs have made me want to gag since about week 5. I honestly don't know if I'll ever eat an egg after this pregnancy.

My body:
Still bloated (flabby) but I think I can tell the roll of flab is starting to form into more of a "bump".

The nursery:
The nursery is cleaned out completely (we moved the office downstairs!). We have a paint sample on the wall and a few other ideas too!

Baby gear:
We've picked out our furniture online now we just need to order it as soon as the nursery is further along! Does anyone have any experience with JC Penney furniture? Everything seems to have good reviews and we couldn't find something we liked at Babies R Us.

Happy Monday!!
