Name Art and Other Random Things

My good friend just adopted the most precious baby a couple weeks ago and right around that same time I saw this name art on Pinterest and fell in love with it.

This site shows just how to make it and I whipped one up last night real quick before visiting my friend today. She just so happened to name her little girl London, just like in the example. I'm going to make one for my little guy too and maybe even an Easter one. The possibilities are endless!!
I have to share this picture of Landon wearing my new necklace. He broke my old silver bow necklace that I had been wearing for years so I bought some teething jewelry from this company called Chewbeads. They definitely look like real jewelry but they're totally safe for chewing - and pulling. :)
Finally, did you know Sonic now has sweet potato tots? You're welcome. ;-)

Happy Thursday!!

Friday Randoms

I am so glad it's Friday! We've had such a long week because Landon has been sick. He hasn't been sleeping {Wednesday night I held him all night long in the recliner - yawn} and he has been extra fussy. So I'm ready for the weekend! Let's just chat about some random things going through my head, shall we? ;-)

1. We got Landon's Valentine's Day card sent out and I think they turned out so cute!

2. I am obsessed with this heated throw blanket I got at Bed Bath and Beyond a few weeks ago. I get so cold while I sleep and so this baby sits under our sheet and blankets and I'm toasty all night long. It makes it even harder to get out of bed in the wee hours to tend to a sick baby though! Hah!
 3. My New Years Resolution this year was to eat more responsibly - more organic and local products and just an all around more natural and healthy lifestyle. It's going to be hard because my favorite things are cheeseburgers and Snickers bars. But I have been shopping at our new local organic grocery store (our city isn't cool enough for Whole Foods or Trader Joe's) and I've also been using reusable shopping totes. I have gotten several from different places but these are by FAR my favorites! They're from K-Mart and they were less than $2! They are also huge! I can fit a week's worth of groceries in two of these big totes. It certainly makes carrying everything in the house easier too. And I love the retro print on the front. Cute and practical? Win win!

4. Nothing is booked yet, but I think we will be going to Texas in the next couple of months for Joe to attend a conference for work. We are also trying to come up with ideas for a family vacation in the summer or early fall (depending on Joe's schedule for his last year of residency) but this will be our first trip as a family!

5. Is there anything cuter than a baby booty in Levi's? ;-)

Happy Friday!

February Craft Club

I've posted before that my little group of girlfriends has a monthly craft club. We take turns hosting it and the hostess makes dinner and gets all the supplies and demonstrates a craft. I hosted our October meeting and then it was my turn again this month :)

I got all the stuff for each of the girls to make a Valentine's Day mailbox for themselves, their child or their spouse. I love this craft because it was super cheap - the boxes were only a dollar from Target and the stands (actually candleholders!) were from the Dollar Tree. I got a bunch of scrapbooking embellishments and stickers on sale at Michael's to dress them up with.
I put out some of my old antique white dishes (that I got for a few dollars from an estate sale) and I had some pretty cloth napkins on top.
These glasses were a huge hit! I bought a set of goblets at TJMaxx and dipped the stems in chalkboard paint and let them dry for a few days. I love that each girl could write her name on her glass and there was no confusion who's was who's :)
I made this recipe from Martha Stewart for dinner with salads and garlic bread. I'm not kidding, this recipe is SO easy. Literally dump everything in a dish and bake! But it seems kind of fancy because it has orzo and feta cheese and fresh dill. Love it!
I made these cupcakes I found from Pinterest. They are my new favorite cupcake!!!
By the way, if you're on Pinterest and you want to follow me, you can find me under "brittanyhuffman" - I would love to follow you back!!

Happy Wednesday :)

P.S. You all know my love for Erin Condren planners and organizing things! I've been on the lookout for a coupon code or voucher for two of my girlfriends who are wanting a planner - to no avail, boo! - but there is a giveaway happening at my new friend's blog here for a $25 giftcard. :)

Valentine's Day Mantle

I don't usually put up a festive mantle for Valentine's Day but this year I decided I could "shop my house" for things to put up. Plus, something about having a kid makes me want to get into each holiday :)

Chalkboards are so easy to decorate with. They are "old school" and perfect for quotes - two of my favorite things. I had to think of something on the fly to put on up here so I used a line from one of my favorite songs to sing to Landon :)

L.O.V.E. by Nat King Cole
L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone you adore and
Love was made for me and you
I bought the cherub at Hobby Lobby in the Spring/Easter section.
I love to decorate with candy (and then challenge myself to stay out of it!). Sweethearts for Valentine's Day. Malted eggs for Easter. Candy corn for Halloween. The possibilities are endless!
Pearls and diamonds! Yes, please! :)

Happy Thursday!
