What's Your Color IQ?

I found this very cool website today where you get to test your "color IQ". Since my job is completely left brain (logical/analytical/objective), I thought it could be cool to see how righty is working these days.

The test gives you four color challenges. In each line is a box of tiles that have colors from two ends of a spectrum. You have to de-randomize them (put them in order from one color to the other). Like this:
I put mine in order like this (I thought I did pretty well):

As it turns out.. I was OFF the charts. And not in a good way. I'll stick to my day job. Can you do better?

Ice Day, Take Two...

Today was another glorious day at home, iced in. Actually we weren't iced in because we were able to go out for lunch and run a few errands, but according to my employer - we were stuck! I'm getting totally spoiled!

I decided it was a terrible tragedy that my home didn't reflect Valentines Day at all (plus, I figured DH could use the visual reminder). So, I did a little craft project.

Cheap wooden sign...

Painted and hung on the fireplace...
I also attacked our guest bathroom. We've lived in this rental for 6 months now, and all I had done before today was throw a rug on the floor. I finally managed to get some things hung on the wall and add some pizazz.

Framed: one of my fav Van Gogh's.
DH made the H with our initials.

Snow (Ice) Day!

Yesterday and today my work is off for "icy conditions", which couldn't be better for me because:
(a) I'm still getting over the stupid flu
(b) Since I travel for work so much I *never* get to lay around the house

Soooo.. that's exactly what I did. I stayed in my PJs all day. DH had the day off two because he was post-call so he stayed in his PJs. We cleaned the house. We watched tv. We looked at vacation possibilities online. We napped. It was lovely. And I got to do one of the things I miss so much by being away. Make a nice dinner. So that's what I did. Joe requested one of his all-time-favorite meals. It was so YUM.

Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta
Ingredients:
2 lbs boneless stinless chicken breasts
1 lb smoked or cajun sausage
blackening seasoning
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 cups cooked bowtie pasta
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 T. butter
2 T. EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)
parmesean cheese

Directions:
Cut raw chicken into bite sized pieces (I use my kitchen shears) and place in a ziplock bag with blackening seasoning. Toss to coat. Slice the sausage. Melt the butter in a large skillet along with the EVOO and heat until very hot. Add chicken, sausage and garlic and sautee until golden brown. Add the chicken broth and simmer until it's reduced by half. Add the heavy cream and simmer until the sauce is thick. Add the cooked pasta and warm throughout. Remove from heat. Toss in parmesean cheese and mix well. Enjoy :)

Way Too Long...

I've been a non-existent blogger lately but that doesn't mean A LOT has been going on! I'm writing this one because I have some time off from work today because I'm recovering from the flu. I've been to North Carolina, Washington State and I did a work trip back in Missouri (and stayed with my parents!)

Joe is ready to start his Match List for residency and the date has been named for when we find out where we'll be living for the next four years. The count-down is on!

Ephesians 4:29

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

*I saw a dude with this tattooed on his wrist and I liked it.*

Happy 2-0-0-9!

First post of the new year. So far, it's been pretty standard but I'm hoping 09 brings a lot of good. I know 08 was bad for a lot of the people I love. I rang in the New Year with the hubby and my BFF at a comedy club in Kansas City.

'Member this dude? From MTV. He's now a comedian!

Now I'm back to work. And traveling. I know you feel my pain for my 5am flight tomorrow. I've been doing a lot of thinking about things that will be going down in the next 360 days or so...

1. Hubby becomes a doctor! (graduates from Med School)
2. We'll likely be moving somewhere.
3. We may be adding to our family (wink, wink)
4. I'd like to find a cool new job at the cool new city we may be moving to
5. I will be witness/support to lots of changes happening in my friend's lives
6. More traveling for our twosome (destinations currently in discussion)
7. I'd like to lose 30 pounds (ha! just seeing if you're paying attention ;-)

Happy 09 to you all!
