New Bag

Made it home from D.C. What an awesome trip, but it's very nice to be home. Unfortunately, I came home to the same pile of unpacked boxes that were here when I left two weeks ago. DH claims he didn't want to do anything without me (how sweet...)

Anyway, to celebrate and spoil myself for such a successful trip I splurged on a new handbag to add to my collection.

Gee... ain't she pretty?

Solo Tourist

Everything is swell here in D.C. I love this city! The weather is beautiful, the people are nice and it's steeped with some awesome history. I've been trying to finish work early to check out some of the touristy stuff.

Declaration of Independence:
John Hancock signature (so faded!):
The Constitution:
The Emancipation Proclamation:

I also walked around the National Mall (the big park that all the cool history-stuff is located on). There, I saw the Washington Memorial:
And, my favorite, the Capitol. SO much bigger in real life and quite pretty.

Oh.. and work is going great too ;-)

Destination: Washington D.C.

I wrapped up my visit in Kansas City today and flew out for a 5 day work trip in Washington D.C. With everything going on, I had NO time to pack or plan for this trip and it's my first time here. And I'm alone. With a rental car, no less. It's fine, I told myself on the flight.. surely the rental car will have a navigation system so I can learn my way around. No such luck. Got in the car with my 2 *huge* bags of wrinkled and stinky clothes from the last week. Me and my map. *panic attack*
Actually, I made it just fine. Made exactly SIX u-turns, but I'm safe and sound in the (very nice, might I add...) hotel. I'm trying to figure out how I'll check out some of the local sights before I leave.

A Baby Is Born...

Two days ago my BFF from middle school gave birth to a beautiful baby girl! I found out her water broke on Tuesday while I was at work, around noon. I immediately booked the next flight back home and I was there for the birth at 12:30am that night. Isabelle is absolutely perfect - I have a new love in my life :-)

Little Blue House

DH and I moved again last weekend. Hopefully for the last time until he graduates in May!! I've been calling it the "little blue house". It's cute and cozy (and full of boxes at the current moment).
It was no easy move. DH's parents came down from K.C. to help us and the temp was insane. Check out the 103 degree reading from my car...
